Four Reasons For Going Vegan – World Go Vegan Day

June 21 is World Go Vegan Day. The vegan diet has suddenly become the most popular of all diets in the world. The population of people consuming meat is decreasing daily for one reason or another. Many of the people giving up the meat diets are sighting health reasons. Whereas some of the people actually give up only one type of meat such as the red meats, or reduce the amount of meat they consumer, more and more are giving up meat completely. This is a most popular trend among the young people.

One of the most popular and perhaps the deciding factor for many is the opinion that the vegan diet is healthier because it reduces the amount of fat that one takes in, especially the saturated fats. This means that your heart and other cardio-vascular organs operate at optimum level.

A vegan diet is also very high in fiber content mainly found in the vegetables and fruits that constitute a vegan diet. The high fiber content ensures that the individual has proper bowel movements and suffers from little if any digestion problems. For example it is very rare to find a person on a vegan diet suffering from bloating or acidity. The high levels of minerals such as potassium in the body ensure that the individual’s organs such as the kidney and liver are functioning at maximum capacity.

Secondly, a vegetarian diet is known to actually keep some diseases at bay especially those concerned with aging and diets. One of the diseases that can be managed or prevented through a vegan diet is the cardio-vascular disease. These diseases arise from general misuse of the cardio-vascular organs, lack of care for the same.

A non-vegan diet is fatty and is considered to be among the leading causes of cardio-vascular disease. Diabetes is also a diet disease common to people with fatty and high protein diets. Vegetarians rarely if ever suffer from diabetes and especially type 2 diabetes. Some types of cancer have also been known to be managed through a completely vegan diet. These include breast cancer, colon cancer and prostate cancer. Patients who switched to the vegan diet during the course of treatment found that they stopped the progress of the disease and made management of the same much easier.

Third, a vegetarian diet makes weight loss and weight management much easier. The low fat content in the diet is likely to cause a decrease in weight and increase in muscle content. This means that although individuals are losing weight they appear to be much stronger and active than they were before.

Fourth, A vegan diet also gives individuals a better outlook. The diet has been used to manage skin ailments such as pimples and acne, giving not just a smoother skin but also a brighter complexion.

June is National Adopt a Shelter Cat Month

June is National Adopt a Shelter Cat Month. Cats are completely lovable creatures that fit into many homes. They are often considered to be the easiest pets to manage and care for in a home. This is because they do not take up much space, they eat little food and are generally much easier to handle.

Cats have become a favorite pet among people right behind the dogs. They are fast replacing man’s best friend especially for people living in urban cities where space is limited and conditions for renting a home are many. Individuals who own cats find them to be very lovable creatures, faithful and obedient.

National Adopt and Shelter Cat Month is sponsored by the ASPCA to highlight the issues surrounding cats and find homes for the four million cats that end up in shelters every year. The month has become popular and often yields some amazing results.

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated” - Gandi

During this month communities are educated on how to care for the cats and there are many adoption assistance program. The National Adopt and Shelter Cat Month, is however not just about adopting cats. It also encourages people to provide or work towards providing shelters in their communities or sponsor causes such as the already existing shelters in their communities and those that are in the process of being built.

Some people may feel they may not be able to care for a cat properly but they can still sponsor a cat in the shelter. For some communities the sponsorship is individual, were one person offers to pay for the care and support of a specific animal until it is adopted. This trend is especially popular in urban areas where people lack the time and space to care for the cat. By paying sponsorship, they are able to play their part in rescuing abandoned cats.

During the National Adopt and Shelter Cat Month, community members who have played a major role in caring and ensuring the well being of cats are recognized. This is to encourage others to step up and take responsibility for abandoned cats.

Three Ways to Improve Your Photos for Nature Photography Day

Nature Photography Day - June 15June 15th is Nature Photography Day. To celebrate, we have provided you with three easy tips you can apply to make your nature photographs the best they can.

Have a Love of Nature

The first and most important tip in nature photography is to ensure that you love the subject you plan to photograph. For example bird watchers often have the most amazing photographs of birds because they love birds, and are willing to spend time finding the perfect shot.

Nature photography involves no posing and the subjects you pursue are not aware that they are a subject of interest. It may therefore take more than a few seconds to make the shot. If the subject is of no interest to you then you may either get frustrated or even bored in what should be an amazing journey to photography. Wildlife photographers may spend hours or even days observing the subject on interest in order to gauge how they can get a perfect shot.

Practice, Practice, Practice

Secondly it is important to practice taking pictures especially those that are nature concerned. Practice allows you to be more confident when taking the pictures. Many people practice photography on family and friends and forget that nature cannot be coached as human beings are.

It is important to take photos of nature around you. Practice by taking pictures of birds, pets and other forms of nature in your home or area of residence. The more pictures you take, the more you understand the amount of lighting, pixels and other components you need to ensure that you get the pictures you desire. It is important to remember that you can only get better with practice. The more confident you get the better the pictures will be.

Know Your Camera

Third, many people do not take the time to understand the nature and components of their equipment and subjects. many people embark on photographing wildlife for example without understanding exactly how the cameras they are using works. In such a case you will find that photos have too much or too little light, are blurry and do not flatter the subject matter. Take the time to understand all the components of the camera so you can maximize on the use of the equipment.

Similarly, it is important to understand your subject matter and its behavior, in order to make the perfect shot. Read about the birds, animals or any other component of nature in order to understand better how you can communicate with them or entice them to the perfect poses.

World Yoga Day – April 24

April 24th is World Yoga Day. Yoga has recently become very popular as a spiritual exercise and also a physical maintenance exercise. Many people are beginning to practice yoga as a means of attaining spiritual completion or even as part of a weight loss program.

Even more people are beginning to believe in the power that comes from practicing yoga. However, not many people understand where the exercise came from and how it developed; even fewer of the people practicing yoga understand the philosophy and principles behind yoga. With more and more people taking up yoga, it has become important to understand where this spiritual and physical exercise originated from.

Yoga began in the stone ages as a community exercise. The Stone Age dwellers began practicing yoga as a means of improving their own lives and community togetherness. Yoga developed as a shamanism, and with the foundation of shamanism. The practice of yoga has similar principles asthat of shamanism. Many of the people who practiced yoga at the time also practiced shamanism.

Archeologists and scholars believe that yoga was used not just to enhance the individual strengths of the community but also to enhance the already being practiced shamanism. Stones recovered that date as far as the stone age era depict pictures of yoga poses, with many of them showing an entire community engaged in the exercise.

The Lord’s song is the oldest known yoga teaching manual or literature that describes the art of yoga. Many scholars and researchers have spent thousands of dollars trying to find any older literature on the subject. In addition to all this, the literature indicates the importance of the ultimate reality and the exaltation of the self; and in return the relationship between the two. This is the main principle of yoga. Although many practicing yoga students often focus on the second part that is the exaltation of the self, they often forget the first which is accepting the reality in which one lives. According to the ancient literature, yoga principles are a mix of ancient Buddhism and Hinduism.

Come the early 19th century when explorers and travelers began going to the far borders, yoga found its way to the west. The practice took long to develop because of the skeptics that surrounded it. However, with time yoga became as famous as dance in the west. Many practicing individuals began learning the simple moves associated with yoga. During the Mid 1950’s more and more yoga teachers from India began arriving and settling in the west bringing with them the more profound steps of yoga. The teachers introduced and taught the now famous western yoga teachers, the principles and foundations of yoga. As more and more people began to understand the background and principles of yoga, the practice began growing and extending even further.

Yoga is beginning to extend even further, to the developed and undeveloped countries. Teachers of yoga are traveling even further across borders. Yoga is becoming as popular as or even more popular than dance especially with the continuing weight loss fads.
